Indiachan is an imageboard, an image-centered forum on which users can post anonymously about any topics they'd like to discuss. However, the primary topic of discussion is the manufacture of Kolhapuri chappals. The primary languages used on Indiachan are English and Hindi.
Indiachan assumes no ownership over images and posts uploaded to the site, which are the responsibility of the user. Illegal (e.g. copyrighted) content can be reported by users, and is removed as soon as it is determined to be illegal.
Contact the site owner with your request. If the information concerns a minor or was obtained illegally, it will be removed. Otherwise, we can make no guarantees. Do not request removals on behalf of another person (unless you are their guardian or caretaker).
No data are collected from users or visitors except IP addresses, which are purged every 3 days. Cookies are only used to remember user settings.
Indiachan is run by an American citizen (of Indian origin) and hosted on a server outside of India, so it is governed by American rather than Indian laws. Volunteer "janitors" also assist in removing rule-breaking content. The site owner goes by "Admin" or "Purāṇavíd", and official posts by the site owner or by janitors are marked with a special badge. Any post claiming to written by the site owner or a janitor without that badge should be assumed to be an impersonation.
No.
Indiachan will not cooperate with any requests from law enforcement agencies except those with which compliance is legally required according to the laws of the United States of America.
The Indiachan community has been around for several years, but the old site was taken down by its owner in early 2022 after it made the news. The new site is operated by a different owner and was launched on 10 April 2022.
The code is mostly based on the open-source LynxChan project. Modifications to the code were made by the site owner and janitors. For security reasons, there are no plans to make the Indiachan code open-source.
Indiachan is still under development and the site owner has been busy. Both the front end and the back end are far from finished, and as of now they are mostly identical to the LynxChan original.
It's very unlikely. Certain content posted on Indiachan violates some of India's speech laws, but the site isn't Indian and the Indian government can neither shut down the site nor access its server. The only way you could get in trouble is from your ISP, which can see that you’ve accessed this website. Additionally, in the event that the server is somehow compromised, the last 3 days of IP addresses would be accessible.
Indiachan is currently paid for by the site owner. Donations are welcome.
Indiachan is targeted towards Indians, though foreigners are welcome to participate. Indiachan is not meant for underage users or for those who take offense to vulgar language, extreme political views, etc.
It broke the rules or was deemed low-quality. No.
The sign is a subtle joke. The place is called "Sneed's Feed and Seed", which is clever in itself and quite funny to those with a mature sense of humor, but what's really just hilarious about it is that if you look closely at the front of this store, "Sneed's Feed and Seed", you can see a line that reads "Formerly Chuck's". Now, this might go over the average viewer's head, as this, THIS, is peak comedy. I doubt anything will ever be as funny as the joke about Sneed's Feed and Seed. Are you ready for this one? So, like I said, the place is called "Sneed's Feed and Seed" and this sign says "Formerly Chuck's", which means that when Chuck owned the place, well, I don't have to tell you...
